Better together: Basis and NFPS membership is working out well

You may have seen from a recent article that SBRT Ltd has joined the NFPS – a membership organisation that specialises in keeping themselves and others safe, particularly in job roles where physical restraint is used.

Six weeks on, we wanted to share how pleased we are to be a part of this growing organisation, which has more than 200 members and is going from strength to strength all the time. We also know that by joining the NFPS, we can offer much more value to our customers.

NFPS was founded by Mark Dawes who has more than 30 years’ experience as a physical skills instructor. Plus, he has worked as a hostage negotiator and a certified competent Risk Assessor – not to mention he is a licensed cognitive hypnotherapist, and master Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner.

It’s not surprising to know that when it comes to defence and use of physical force, there is not much Mark and his team have not experienced before.

As an organisation that prides itself on a comprehensive series of Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) courses, we have already found SBRT Ltd to be a good match with NFPS.

We have heard from many of our customers through our training courses, how staff can be subject to violence and aggression at work. During the pandemic, staff in the healthcare sector have been particularly affected by increasing numbers of cases where they are subjected to physical abuse.

We’ve also reported how it has been a growing concern for those working in the sector as we come through the pandemic, and it has been pleasing to see that many have still prioritised PMVA training during these uncertain times.

John Davies, SBRT Ltd Director, said: “As a growing organisation ourselves, it is great to be a part of an organisation like NFPS. They have been extremely proactive and supportive of us and all its members, from things like legal and compliance support to updates on current guidelines.”

“NFPS has also been great at keeping members up to date on other important issues within the industry and have been successful in helping a diverse membership of trainers, security and frontline-based companies to safely deliver PMVA training.”
